I love the Church, but to survive, it must be able to accept major change.
We see so many Catholic children that never keep the faith after graduation from high school/college. Why is this? The Catholic Church just does not meet the needs of these young people. They find equality is all around them and yet the Catholic Church will not change to meet their needs.
All each of us needs to do is to look at the people that are in Church and we will find that most of them are retired or ready to retire.

We must develop a new church based on the following:
1. The Pope will give up his responsibilities/retire at the age of 80.
2. Women must be allowed to become Decons and Priest of the Church.
3. Too many churches are not fully staffed and as a result are not meeting the commitments of serving the members of the Church.
4. The need to focus on totally meeting the needs of the members requires that
women must fill these needs as they have a greater tendency to have empathy with the members of the Church.
5. Women should be allowed to become priests and still be married. However, they would not be the Pastor, but would become assistants to the Pastor, with all responsibilities of the Pastor. However they would be able to tend to their children and husband in their own home. This would begin to support the parish's that are now not meeting the needs of the people within the parish.
6. All priests must learn to give sermons that meet the needs of the people of the parish, instead of explaining the Gospels and Epistles, they must discuss how they impact our parishioners’ in today’s issues.
7 The priests must give up the concept of writing a sermon and then every three years just reading that old sermon again and again.
8. We need a Church that serves the people.

"I have come that you may have life, and have it in abundance "
Christ gave the means to effect this aim : the Sacraments.
When the Sacraments are unable to be celebrated, especially the Eucharist, through lack of ministers, I.e. celibate priests, then the Will of Christ is being. thwarted by an ecclesiastical, man made law!
I pray the Holy Spirit will call others to this ministry, irrespective of gender or marital status

If the concept of New Evangelization has to work, the Present Organized Church has to undergo a very Radical Change. For this Purpose I suggest:

1. The Catholic Church has to become once again "A MOVEMENT FOR THE REIGN OF GOD AS IT WAS AT THE TIME OF JESUS"
2. THIS MOVEMENT NEED TO CONCENTRATE ON "THE VALUES OF THE REIGN OF GOD" RATHER THAN POWER, POMP, RULES, RITUALS,ETC.
3. A CAUSAL READING OF THE SYNOPTIC GOSPELS WILL GIVE CLEAR IDEA OF THIS MOVEMENT.
4. JESUS HAS VERY CLEARLY AND IN STONG TERMS REJECTED THE PRESENT SYSTEM OF AUTHORITY IN THE CHURCH. YOU DO NOT NEED MUCH THEOLOGY OR OTHER KNOWDGE FOR THIS. YOU ONLY NEED HUMILITY AND OPENESS AND GOOD WILL TO READ THE GOSPELS AND JUST PUT THEM INTO PRACTICE IN THE MODERN TIMES WITH OPENNESS AND SINCERITY.
5. ARGUEMENTS OF JUSTIFICATION BY AUTHORITIES TO PROMOTE AND CONTINUE SUCH AUTHORITY, POWER AND POMPE IS A CLEAR SIGN THAT WE HAVE MOVED AWAY FORM THE MOVEMENT OF JESUS
6. NEED OF THE TIME IS TO GO BACK TO MOVEMTN OF JESUS AND NOT TO THE TRADIONS OF THE CHURCH.
7. BASICALLY THE LEADERS OF THE CHURCH HAS TO BE THE DISCIPLES OF JESUS. THE DISCIPLES OF THE HAS TO BE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS WHO WASHED THE FEET OF THE DISCIPLES.
8. THEY HAVE TO PROMOTE WHOLENESS OF THE HUMAN PERSON, WHOLENESS OF THE NATURE, WHOLENESS OF THE UNIVERSE AND WHOLENESS OF HUMAN RELATIONS WITH GOD AND WITH OTHER HUMANS.
9. THIS SHOULD BE THE CONCERN OF THE AUTHORITIES IN THE CHURCH. ALL OTHER CONCERNS ARE NON-CHRISTIAN AND PAGONS AND JESUS TOLD THE DISCIPLES WHEN THEY WERE ARGUEING WHO WILL BE GREATEST?
10. ALL THIS NBEEDS A RADICAL CHANGE, INCLUDINGH THE EXTERNAL FORMS OF DRESS, THE SYSTEM OF ADDRESSING THE LEADERS, THE DWELLING OF THE LEADERS, THE MODE OF THE TRAVEL BY THE LEADERS ETC.
11. WHAT THE LEAST OF THE DISCIPLES CANNNOT AFFORD, THE LEADERES WHALL AVOID FOLLING THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS.

Let Christ rule, not man - men who live in a castle have no idea what life is on grassroot level. What does a man know of poverty when he lives in a castle?

I would like to see a unity of churches who live the gospel of Jesus on grassroot level with less rules and regulation, doctrines and dogmas! Less pomp in clothing styles and churches - more simplicity which emphasises more the life of Jesus.

Jesus said follow me, not worship me.

I remember Vatican II blossoming during my youth and through my young adult years. And then starting around 1990 changes began and the great movement; the great Holiness of Vatican II started to be stifled by then John Paul II with the advice of then Cardinal Ratzinger. Bishops who fully understood what Vatican II meant for the Church were silenced, censored, removed. And now we have a sterile shell of the living document. And now you write this "Authority in the Church" a renewal of the purpose of Vatican II. The current patriarchy, all chosen because of their belief in the values of Vatican I and their hatred of Vatican II, is saying that they want to embrace the meaning of Vatican II? This will only occur once this pope is dead, and we have another visionary like John XXXIII in office. Probably not in my life time. But I did get to live for 25 years in what church was meant to be, and I will never forget that, and nothing will change my faith and belief that that was what faith what church is suppose to be. At this point I just pray to God that I can forgive the leaders of the church for the destruction of that loving and spiritual Roman Catholic Church of the past.

I would like to see no office higher than a Bishop in the Catholic church. There is a necessity for priests, married and celibate, also women, married or unmarried. It is time for the church to be human.

I wish our church to be at all times, guided by the inclusive love of Jesus as we see it primarily in the Gospels. Jesus welcomed everyone, did not judge anyone's past, understood the great strength, beauty and very powerful weakness of each human being and accepted that reality with incredible love

Hi
I want the RC church to adopt Dominican(Order of Preachers) model of governance.
The OP goverment is demorcatic and open.
It has an contitution that is subject to regular review.
No secret appointments etc.
It is a communitarian/collegiality form of goverment

The primary reform needed is a return to the 1800 year tradition of LOCAL election of bishops for a renewable term with specified provisions and procedures for removal in cases of corruption. As long as the pope controls all the bishops, there is no recourse and no balance of power to limit a pope's abuse of power. Secondarily the Canon Law Church Judicial System needs to have independence from papal (and any bishops) jurisdiction. Thirdly, independent annual financial audits need to be controlled at every level of the church juisdiction by the laity whose monies they have earned. This is necessary to provide a full accounting of expenditures as a matter of lay resposibility codified into canon law. This is a vital check on the unrestrained power of the ordained. Fourth, a legislative function by independently chosen group of Cardinals needs to be empowered to approve or veto any Church laws that are to be universally applied to the church as a whole. This function needs to be designed in such a way that the pope cannot interfere with cultural differences and national bishops conferences. I submit that there are universal life principles, however the God of Life believes in the diversification of life. As such, diversity should not be viewed as a threat to unity, but rather as a reflection of God's anointed diversified creativity. In summary the executive, legislative and judicial powers of the entire church must be separated and balanced in order to prevent corruption. The absolute power of all pastors must be abandoned if the Catholic church is to survive and grow in the face of competition from other religions. Medieval feudalism in the church must go. It is a heresy.

However we get there, there is one crucial question we must address
We would be failing our grandchildren if we allowed the fruits of the Second Council of the Vatican to fade through our lack of concern. We do indeed have a duty to make the case, in faith, for the Church as it is today and for what it might become tomorrow. How do we make our Church the Church of our children?
